WHAT VISA & WORK PERMIT WITH SIMPLE OUTSOURCE ACTUALLY MEANS

What Simple Outsource handles — start to finish

Thai work authorization involves two separate documents from two separate ministries, each with its own requirements, timelines, and documentation. Getting either one wrong delays the other. Simple Outsource manages the entire process — including accompanying your employee to every government appointment.

01

We handle the complexity so you don’t have to

Thai visa and work permit applications require precise documentation, correct sequencing, and accurate responses to authority queries. One missing document or incorrectly completed form can add weeks to the process.

Our team knows exactly what each authority requires — and anticipates issues before they become delays.

02

We accompany your employee in person

Unlike services that only prepare documents, Simple Outsource attends every Ministry of Labour appointment and interview with your employee. We handle communication with officials directly, in Thai, and resolve any on-the-spot queries immediately.

Your employee doesn’t navigate Thai bureaucracy alone.

03

We track renewals so you never miss a deadline

Work permits expire annually. Missing the renewal window means your employee must stop work immediately — and may need to leave Thailand. Simple Outsource monitors all expiry dates and initiates renewals at 60 days in advance, automatically.

No surprise expiries. No compliance gaps.

FAQ

Your questions about work permits and visas in Thailand

A work visa (Non-Immigrant B Visa) is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and permits a foreign national to enter Thailand for employment purposes. A work permit is issued by the Ministry of Labour (or BOI) and legally authorises the foreign national to work for a specific employer in a specific role. Both documents are required to work legally in Thailand — one does not substitute for the other.

The standard processing time at the Ministry of Labour is 7–10 business days after the Non-Immigrant B Visa has been issued and entered to Thailand. However, delays are common when documentation is incomplete or when the application requires additional review. Simple Outsource prepares every application meticulously to ensure first-submission approval within the standard timeframe — and our 97% success rate reflects that.

Company requirements typically include: DBD company registration documents, list of shareholders and directors, company tax registration, social security registration, proof of registered capital, employment contract, and job description. Employee documents include: passport, educational certificates, professional qualifications employment certificates, and photographs. Requirements vary depending on the role and the company’s BOI status. Simple Outsource handles verification of all documents before submission.

Thai law generally requires that a company employ at least four (4) Thai nationals for every one foreign employee to be eligible to sponsor a work permit. The company must also meet minimum registered capital thresholds — THB 2 million per foreign employee for Thai-majority companies, or THB 3 million for foreign-majority companies. Some industries and BOI-promoted companies are exempt from certain quota requirements.

Companies with Board of Investment (BOI) promotion status can apply for work permits through the Single Window and BOI One Stop Service Center, which offers faster processing, fewer documentation requirements, and exemptions from the standard Thai worker quota. Eligibility depends on your company’s BOI promotion category. Simple Outsource can assess your eligibility and manage the BOI application process.

Government fees for work permit applications are relatively low (typically THB 750–3,000 depending on permit duration). The main costs for employers relate to the minimum registered capital requirements and the obligation to employ four Thai nationals per expat. Service fees for Simple Outsource’s work permit management depend on the number of permits and complexity of the applications — we provide a transparent quote at the free consultation.

No. Work permits in Thailand are tied to a specific employer and role. If an employee changes companies, the existing work permit is cancelled and a new application must be submitted under the new employer. Simple Outsource manages both the cancellation and the new application, minimising the gap between employment arrangements.

Renewals should be initiated at least 30 days before the permit expiry date. Failure to renew on time means the employee must stop working immediately, and if the visa also expires, they must leave Thailand within 24 hours or face overstay penalties. Simple Outsource monitors all expiry dates in our system and initiates renewals proactively — no client action required until document sign-off.

No. Spouses and children accompanying a work permit holder can obtain a Non-Immigrant O (Dependent) Visa, but this does not permit them to work. Each family member who wishes to work must obtain their own Non-Immigrant B Visa and work permit independently. Simple Outsource manages dependent visa applications alongside the primary permit holder’s documents.

Yes. Foreign nationals holding director positions at Thai-registered companies must have a valid work permit to perform any work in Thailand, including attending board meetings or signing documents on behalf of the company. Simple Outsource regularly processes director work permits and advises on the specific documentation requirements for this category.
